I missed my daughter's
first crawl. Now the world is her classroom.
On the road since 2016. Two films in cinemas. Now: the third journey — three daughters, the world as their classroom.
In 2016, Timo missed his daughter's first crawl. He was at work. That evening, Timo and Salima made a decision that changed everything.
They sold everything and left — one small daughter, no return ticket, three years in Asia. In India, Salima gave birth to their second daughter. Then the authorities refused to let them leave. Ten months held back over a surrogacy accusation they had nothing to do with. That became their second film.
Next up, starting 2027 — all three daughters, one camper. The planned route runs from Germany through the Balkans, Turkey and the Caucasus all the way to Kazakhstan and on to Ladakh in India. The third film will come out of it.
We wanted our kids away from screens — and into real life. That was the whole idea behind the trip. Then on the road, we noticed: screens don't disappear just because you're living in a camper.

In 2016 Timo missed his daughter's first crawl. He was at work. That evening they decided: time together is the greatest gift. It turned out to be the best decision they ever made.
The Family
Timo and Salima — both filmmakers, both behind the camera. Three daughters: Emilia (10), Elina (6), Enya (3). Every one of them their own person. All five of them the main characters.
The Route
Planned: Germany, the Balkans, Turkey, the Caucasus, Kazakhstan, on to Ladakh in India. The third film will be made along the way.
