Analytics — Umami

This website uses Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that we operate ourselves on a server in the European Union. Umami works without cookies, does not create user profiles and does not store IP addresses or other personal data. Only aggregated figures are collected (page views, referrer, approximate country, device type). No data is shared with third parties. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in anonymised website statistics).

Film trailer — Vimeo

The trailer for our documentary is embedded from Vimeo. The provider is Vimeo.com, Inc., 330 West 34th Street, New York, USA. So that no data is sent to Vimeo when you merely open our site, we load the player only once you click the preview image — before that, no connection to Vimeo is made. Only with that click is your IP address transmitted to Vimeo. We use the version without recognition (parameter dnt=1); Vimeo then sets no tracking cookies, only technically necessary security cookies. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in presenting the film). For transfers to the USA we rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses. Contact form and email

If you send us enquiries via the contact form, your details including the contact data you provide will be stored in order to process the enquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We do not share this data without your consent. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR (processing for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in processing your enquiry).

Newsletter — Kit (formerly ConvertKit)

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use Kit (ConvertKit LLC, USA) to send it. Your email address and optional information are stored with Kit. The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing (unsubscribe link in every email). Your data will then be deleted from Kit.

Screen Time Test (quiz)

If you take our Screen Time Test, your email address and your answers to the quiz are stored with Kit (ConvertKit LLC, USA) in order to send you your personal result and, where relevant, follow-up emails. The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. You can withdraw this consent at any time by unsubscribing (unsubscribe link in every email). We additionally keep an internal archive of quiz results (linked to your email address) in our own private records, which is not shared with any third party.

Family Trip Check (quiz)

Our Family Trip Check is a voluntary self-test for families travelling with children. You answer 30 questions about paperwork, health, driving abroad, money, route and everyday life with kids. Taking the test is anonymous: your answers stay in your browser until you voluntarily enter your email address at the end. If you do, we transmit your answers, the assessment (score per topic field), the list of open points and, if you filled it in, your free-text note to our newsletter provider Kit (formerly ConvertKit, ConvertKit LLC, USA) in order to send you the assessment and the offer that matches it. The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us. The Trip Check reflects our personal experience and is not legal, insurance, visa or travel advice — always check entry, customs and insurance rules with the responsible authority.

Film purchase via Gumroad

Purchases of our documentary films are processed via Gumroad (Gumroad, Inc., USA). Payment and transaction data are transmitted directly to Gumroad. We do not store payment data ourselves. Please refer to Gumroad's privacy policy for details.

Local storage

This website uses localStorage in your browser exclusively for technical functions (e.g. dismissing the cookie notice). This data does not leave your browser and is not transmitted to third parties.
